  1. BTW, my gues would be somewhere around the $250 mark for the stand.
  2. Love the CDJ stand. I could really go one of those. Where'd you score it?
  3. Also works for the HS5500.
  4. And, he has an album out 21st March: http://www.amazon.co.uk/I-Done-Album-Beardyman/dp/B004J35AJA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295612006&sr=8-1
  5. Hey guys, I didn't take the transition times on this one (again... doh!). If I could get some feedback, would be awesome. Hard Dance Mix - Feb 20 by DJAdumbration Cheers Guys!
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLXiqdee03s This is my type of beat boxing.
  7. That poster looks fucken awesome. $17... Hmmm.
  8. Rearranged the spare bedroom and got some shelving from Officeworks. Now my gear is at a better height for mixing and I don't end up with a sore back after an hour or so of mixing. I am creating a new slipmat for the DNHS5500 that has my logo on it to replace the one of a venetian mask from my 30th. Should look pretty damn slick when it's done. Just need to print it off on a colour laser somewhere...
  9. Thanks for the feedback. I had noticed the vocals although this was only the second time I'd heard the tracks (apart from the 60 second samples on Beatport). I'll keep trying and next time, I'll remember to let the vocals play out! Thanks again for the feedback.
  10. Damn - didn't notice the difference. I'll have to check I put my mix in the right thread! I think I'll have to drink more coffee before I post.
  11. Hey guys, just noticed we have duplicate BUMP threads in the DJ Headquaters section. Both are stickies. Maybe we shuold merge them?
  12. Crap, I'll listen to the set and try and pick em. I didn't make a note of the transition times and didn't always play tracks through to the end. Ideally, if you can't tell where they are, I've done a good job! I have a feeling you'll be able to tell fairly easily though. Let me see if I can get it for you. I think they are (these are rough start times. Actual transitions for this set are around 10-50 seconds): 3:50 7:00 10:30 (this one is about half a beat out) 15:50 20:30 (this one is way out and I had to just slam it in) 23:40 (Quite happy with this one) 28:40 (started fading out old track too early, otherwise I like this one) 30:40 (Loop/sample from incoming track) 31:44 (And the cheese begins...) 36:00 (Yet more cheese...) As you can tell, the last two tracks were not really suited for this set. The first one had to be set a -7.5% while the last one had to be +7.5%. Oh well, overall I'm quite happy. I've only played/heard these songs twice (with the exception of the last two) so overall I think it's a pretty good effort.
  13. Hard Dance Mix by DJAdumbration Hey All, First time posting a mix. Hard Dance. I know there's one transition I totally fucked up (third last, I think) and the last two track are pure Cheese that really didn't mix well (-7.5 to +7.5) but, hey. Let me know what you think. Cheers Adumbration
  14. Yep - Macquarie Uni - sitting on the bog in the union one day and they had it advertised on the back of the door. I haven't heard about any DJ courses though... Might have to pay a bit more attention next year!
  15. I have to admit I like listening to some 'cheese' remixes/tracks and even have a few I mix but when I go to a club, I don't want to hear it. Anyway, I believe Congratulations! are in order. Hopefully someday there'll be a DJ comp here on the coast. If not, Mac Uni has one I believe. Look out!
  16. Well, at least we know Usher is a Simpsons fan. Hope he paid them royalties. I'd add any song from that fucken gnome Justin Beiber. Even playing his song (or does he have more than one? I really couldn't give a shit) just once counts as overplayed. He needs to be taken out the back, tortured and shot. And then buried with every copy of his song(s) and fans. I'd add any Katy Perry song to the list... except she's soo damn hot. So I'll leave her off my list. Any Black Eyed Peas song. Used to like them but now... I change radio stations.
  17. DJaz is right - I have a pair of Logtiech USB speakers which would be no more than 3" but the bass these things put out is bloody awesome (for their size). My folks have a Logitech 2.1 setup and this setup totally blows me away everytime I hear it. Of course, they have nothing on a proper setup but for the size/money, Logitech make some really good shit.
  18. Love the setup and even more impressed you could get all that in a Daihatsu Charade.
  19. Hey, go here: http://www.soundspectrum.com/. In addition to G-Force, Aeon and Whitecap which are all awesome visualisation packages (and fully scriptable to boot!), they also sell a DVD with pre-recorded visualisations set to music. Of course, you'd need to mute the music but otherwise give it a go. Cheers
  20. eggssell, your last statement is so true - I've recorded a few sets and I think "yeah, nailed a few of those transitions". Then I play abck the recording and it sounds like a horrible mess. I may as well not have bothered at all! But it's the best way to learn. As for hip hop transitions - can't help you I'm afraid. I'm still getting to grips with trance/house transitions. Best of luck.
  21. I think the problem with that is you pull the ring (cold) down to ground. I have since come across some posts that say this is fine for input from RCA to balanced but you should never pull ring output to ground - apparantly it's a really good, quick way to screw your output device.
  22. GuptRX - cheers! Exactly what I've spent hours searching on Google for. +Rep heading your way. DJaz - I suspect you're right but he may have contacts. You never know. Either way, the link provided is totally awesome and answers my question. BTW, like your new avatar For the mods - would it be worth putting the link posted by GuptRX in a sticky? It provides a nice rundown of most types of audio interconnects. Cheers all
  23. Hi All, I've got a Denon DNX120 mixer which is pretty damn awesome. My only problem, currently, is that none of my amps have balanced inputs. While this mixer does have unbalanced RCA output, I would like to use this to record through my laptop. While I do have an amp that I could use headphone out, I don't have any speakers I can use with this amp. Because the mixer has RCA and balanced output, the manual doesn't specify any TRS to RCA pin outs. I've seen other manuals that recommend connecting the tip and the sleeve while leaving the ring disconnected. I've also read that balanced output levels tend to be higher than unbalanced so you need to either build in resistors to lower the level or be very careful with your gains. Not a problem when you're living in an apartment I'm hoping the Denon guy (or anybody else) who frequents this forum can confirm - if I connect the tip and sleeve (obviously not together!) while leaving the ring unconnected and being very careful with the output levels I can use this config to run balanced TRS to RCA. Cheers
  24. I've always wondered if there was something like that around. a copy of that playing on each deck would be a great way to practice.
  25. I know this was about USB sticks, but I used to use USB sticks however now I use 2 x 250 GB external 2.5" HDD's - 1 for each deck. You need to use a special tool to format that size with FAT32 (and loose some space along the way... stupid FAT). Cost around $100 from DSE. I've found it much better than swaping out USB sticks all the time. And, HDD's don't 'die' as often as USB sticks. No way would I do a gig with a USB stick without at least another 1 backup stick. I've just had these things die so often at random times it's not funny. I keep a backup of everything I put onto a USB stick somewhere else.
