thats why I said, like I did a few times, Call a few up and ask how much it would cost (make fake parties) see what they would charge for travel and then you can get a rough idea..
-
well most of the Booking agencies do it that way so if they do it why not follow suit you can make more $$ that way I know works for other jobs too
-
As most if they charge $2 a km its one way only (this way it wont scare the client) or if the town is 235km away tell them thats your travel charge from Post office to post office thats how the roads dept does it... plus you paying 1.55c a litre for city wait till you get to a town that charges $1.80c or more for petrol! and its not about claiming tax dollars (you can do that well after the function) but you have no idea how to charge for travel - this is what its all about not tax, not wages its travel go do courier work for 3months and then try and get travel charges from that the company wouldnt even employ you.... you have to work it all out way before hand if its too high you will be told if its too low you lose money - when you have sorted out the money (or ring other local dj's you dont know to ask if they would do a show say 300km away in (said town) and you want a rough price on show cost and travel charges, then you might with luck work it out) but its all on how you want too do it all
-
some of the booking agencies in NT, WA and SA do the following for Djs, bands etc now First 25kms free. Then $2 per km after that. eg Suburb 1 - 25kms one way. No Charge eg Suburb 2 - 45kms one way. Charge of $40. eg ((45*2)-(25*2))*1=$40 if the town is say 1200km away they charge that as a rate $1200.00 as travel and the normal cost for shows that's what I have found out of late

try building one like Quad core 3.0ghz, 8GB ram, good graphics card, min with 1gb ram, as your creating music not video, so its not as important hard drives should be all removable sata/raid A 120GB HDD for just the operating system 500GB HDD as main storage for creating music 1TB to store finished work plus 3x other 1TB HDD's for extra room do not use the internet for the system --- dont have a firewall as you shouldnt be on the internet... do not install any antivirus what so ever keep anything that needs to be in the system tray kept out of being installed make sure the software has full use to ram make sure your sound card is the highest quality rest is how much money your willing to pay out...
