Hey all, We thought this may be relatively newsworthy and therefore OK to mention here - next month, on December 14, IF? Records (http://www.discogs.com/label/If%3F) will be releasing catalog number IF100, the label's 100th release since its inception in Melbourne 15 years ago. To celebrate this minor milestone, we're pulling together a compilation of Melbourne producers including some of the original IF? artists like ZEN PARADOX and TR-STORM (who appeared on the first ever IF? release, the Zeitgeist compilation in 1995), G3, aka GUYVER 3, who had the first solo artist release (Perception Camera) through IF? in 1996, myself as LITTLE NOBODY (first appearance on Zeitgeist 2 in 1996), ISNOD (who designed the Zeitgeist 3 cover in 1997 and featured on Reaction Hero in 2001), plus DJ FODDER (responsible for the 'Cocaine Speaking' phenomenon conjured up in 1999 and since remixed over 30 times by Mijk van Dijk, Dave Tarrida, DJ Hi-Shock, Pocket, Captain Funk, Jason Leach, Pnau, DJ Warp, etc, etc). While IF? always has tried to be about change and diversity, we still call Melbourne home and that's represented here by our storming, reasonably more recent Melbourne posse that includes excellent artists like BEN MILL, ENCLAVE, ALKAN, CRAIG MCWHINNEY, KODA and KULTRUN - plus other people TBA. While it's nice to have a leg over history, it's these people who continue to bamboozle the senses in innovative new ways and are just as essential to the IF? approach to muzak. And all these guys are independently creating their own remarkable inroads, like Craig McWhinney with the HAUL collective, Kultrun with BeatGeek, and Enclave, Koda and Ben Mill with Elektrax - so definitely take the time out to check their own directions. It's one of the reasons why the comp is subtitled MELBOURNE-MADE. Think a wide swath of electronic diversity, from straight proper techno to more glitch-oriented stuff. Anyway, without further waffling, as I mentioned the compilation will be released in December, and more info about the beast, as it unravels, can be checked out here: http://if-records.weebly.com/if100.html Peace out.

Ha Ha Ha - sounds cool!

This... but I'm biased:
-
No lessons. We were putting on IF? gigs in Melbourne and Sydney in the '90s where we had lots of live electronic acts (Voiteck, Zen Paradox, Frontside, Honeysmack, Son Of Zev, etc) playing, and someone had to fill in the silent gaps between their sets. That was me since I didn't have to pay myself. Best break I ever gave... myself.

Where do you keep up to date with the newest tracks?

[Melb. AUS] AS IF? underground warehouse party 10 Oct. 2009
Andrez posted a topic in DJ Headquarters
SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER in MELBOURNE Venue TBA very soon. -
Decided we'd get in bloody early on this one. Born in Melbourne in 1995, and having worked with the cream of Melbourne techno types in the '90s (Voiteck, Steve Law, FSOM, Honeysmack, Little Nobody, TR-Storm, Son Of Zev, Josh Abrahams, Frontside, DJ Fodder, Blimp, David Thrussell, et al), IF? RECORDS (http://if-records.weebly.com) partially moved to Tokyo in 2001. Over the past year the label has worked closely with Japanese producers Captain Funk, Shin Nishimura, Toshiyuki Yasuda, Funk Gadget, Alone Together, DJ Warp, M-Koda, Clean Hands and Polygon Prompt - as well as internationals like Luke's Anger, Donk Boys, Patrick Pulsinger, Paul Birken, Si Begg, Dave Tarrida, Fila Brazillia, Bill Youngman, Ben Pest, Jammin' Unit, Wyndell Long, Justin Robertson, Steve Stoll, Justin Berkovi, Max Durante, Gene Farris, Biochip C, and Jason Leach (Subhead). Blah, blah, blah. But IF? always has been and more than likely always will be a Melbourne-made label (sorry 'bout that!), and the relationship has continued with input from producers like Bitch Shift, Koda, Little Nobody, Craig McWhinney, Son Of Zev, Enclave, Isnod, Alkan, TR-Storm, Cuznmatt and Ben Mill. So, without further waffling ado, we're coming home to roost for one night only, the first time in almost 3 years, for a night of anarchic musical revelry - much of it LIVE - sourced from Tokyo, the rest of the known world, and here in Melbourne. STYLES? As per the erratic IF? mission statement, expect everything chucked together, put into a blender and rendered downright funky - most of it electronic. SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER 2009, FROM 8:30PM @ HORSE BAZAAR http://horsebazaar.com.au 397 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. DJs: Andrez Bergen, Little Nobody, Funk Gadget, DJ Fodder (Tokyo) LIVE ACTS: Koda, Son Of Zev, Enclave, Isnod, LN Elektronische Ensemble And speaking of flying, here, finally, is the flyer for this gig ...

Try Elektrax in Sydney - very cool label.

Nice work, mates - I'd be in here more often contributing 'cept that I've got my fingers in way too many pies and don't sleep at all... Really, tho' - awesome work.

ANDREZ BERGEN "DEEPPRESSO" (Auricular USA) Deeppressed, with an extra 'p'? Our favorite multiple personality disordered artist returns with his sophomore release for Auricular Records. This is an all new collection of original material in the same vein as his previous Auricular release of collected works. This release however stands out with hypnotic rhythms and crazed samples spliced 'n' diced and strewn together in a dark weave of mayhem which brings comfort to madness and an engaging listening experience to divine chaos! Sample sounds and release details here, thanks to Auricular, along with that J-English cover art: http://andrezbergen.auricular.com ...Sorry about the self-indulgent posting, but I don't expect anyone else to bother on my behalf, so had to motivate myself to swallow pride, act nonchalant, and post it up anyway. Hmm. I guess this confession is pretty distant from nonchalant - so go figure...
